Degree
I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2008. My educational journey included attending two schools. From 2001 to 2004, I studied at Notre Dame of Dadiangas College (now NDDU). I then completed my degree at the Systems Technology Institute (STI) from 2004 to 2008.
Early Career
I began my career as a clerk at a fishing company in my hometown, General Santos City, Philippines. Eventually, I had the opportunity to work in a different field within the same company, where I was promoted to a supervisory position in the woodworking industry.
Getting Closer to IT
I managed to secure a position as an Assistant Branch Manager at an IT retail store. In this role, I began gaining valuable experience in business operations, with increasing responsibilities as I grew within the company.

Virtual Assistant
When I first decided to work online, I wondered how to get started. Through diligent searching, I found a free training commission-based eCommerce business in Canada. Specifically, the Amazon dropshipping business was gaining popularity in 2016. I worked on various projects during that time, which significantly contributed to my current level of knowledge and expertise.
Customer Support
Being a virtual assistant opened up numerous opportunities for me. I actively searched for potential projects on platforms like OnlineJobs.ph and Upwork, which connected me with excellent clients. One significant experience was working for a UK-based company that managed construction projects, particularly floor screeding. In this role, I handled customer service, managed calls, and initiated ads on Facebook. My most notable achievement was suggesting and successfully undergoing training to provide customer quotations. I spent about a year creating quotations, which greatly enhanced my skill set.

As an SEO Practitioner
I conducted extensive research on SEO to deeply understand its workings. I watched numerous videos on YouTube to learn how to start, implement, and maintain a website’s relevance on the SERP.
After gaining knowledge about SEO from online resources, my initial step was to gain practical experience by working for someone or on a project. Through diligent searching, I found a post from a company that did not require prior experience. While my target was an SEO position, I landed a role in content writing at an SEO agency.
Writing was not initially my strong suit, but learning how to create SEO content answered many of my questions about SEO. SEO relies heavily on content with keyword-focused elements. Although the agency’s framework was somewhat different from conventional methods of ranking pages, it still adhered to the same principles of making a website relevant.
Specializing in SEO is not easy; it requires a lot of foundational work before achieving the desired rankings. There is much debate about backlinks versus topical maps, but ultimately, both strategies are essential for a comprehensive SEO approach. I have learned a great deal about SEO and continue to expand my knowledge into areas like digital marketing, social media marketing, and affiliate marketing.
